Rate plans, rates, restrictions and allotments

A rate plan is a way of selling — BAR, corporate, tour-operator contract, package, non-refundable, long stay — with a board basis and a policy. Rates are prices per unit type over dates and weekdays; the most specific row wins. Restrictions, yield rules, allotments, packages, extras and promo codes complete the picture.

How to

Set up the Best Available Rate

  1. Rates › Rate Plans › New: name, code BAR, kind Best available rate, board, policy, Default Plan.
  2. Rates tab: one row per unit type for the whole year with the base price, extra adult and extra child; then rows per season with higher or lower prices; a weekend row with only Thursday and Friday ticked.
  3. The Rate Calendar shows the result per night; click a cell to override one night.

Derive corporate and promotional plans

  1. New plan, Derived From BAR, −15 % or −200 per night; no rate rows needed.
  2. Tour-operator contracts are gross: tick Prices include fees & VAT and enter the contracted price; the night audit posts the net room rate and the fees on top.

Restrictions and yield

  1. Restrictions: minimum stay, closed to arrival or departure, stop-sell, for a date range, a unit type, a rate plan or all.
  2. Yield rules: occupancy bands that raise or lower the price automatically.

Allotments and packages

  1. Allotments: units held per type and night for a tour operator, released back to the house the given days before arrival; pickup is counted from the reservations on the allotment.
  2. Packages: the split of a package price across departments (rooms, meals, activities) so revenue reports are honest.
  3. Extras & Child Policy: supplements, extra beds, transfers, early and late charges, and what a child of each age band costs.

Questions the desk asks

Which price does a stay get?

The plan's dated row for that night and unit type (the shortest matching range wins), else the parent plan's price with the derivation, else the unit type's rack rate; then extra persons, yield and the child policy.

Can the price be typed on the reservation?

Yes — Nightly Rate Override on the line replaces the plan for every night of that stay.
